The medical staff of Cardiology Consultants of South Georgia, PC and Interventional Cardiology Consultants work together to provide professional, personalized services to thousands of patients each year in Thomasville and the surrounding areas. Our Staff includes highly trained and experienced clinical and office staff, dedicated to providing each patient with individualized, compassionate care.
Our practice employs Physician Assistants and Nurse Practitioners often referred to as Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Nurse practitioners (NPs) and physician assistants (PAs) are qualified health care professionals who provide care and treatment while working under the close supervision of a doctor. They have been certified to perform many of the same tasks as a doctor and may participate in your care.
These health care professionals are trained and licensed to practice medicine, under the supervision of a physician. APPs serve as physician extenders and have completed both a bachelor's degree and a master's degree, had clinical training and taken national board exams to certify them in the areas of expertise. APPs must also complete a curriculum of continuing education each year, just as cardiologists or any physicians are required to complete.
This team approach has proven to enhance the standard of care that we are committed to providing to our patients and it allows for more patients to receive the high quality medical care and personalized service they have come to expect from us. In our practice APPs work as a team with physicians seeing patients, both in the hospital and in our offices.
They are able to perform a variety of medical functions which include:
Creating detailed medical histories, ordering diagnostic tests, determining a preliminary diagnosis and treatment plan, administering and prescribing injections, immunizations and oral medications, instructing patients and families regarding medications and treatments, arranging hospital admissions and discharges, and supervising stress tests. All of these tasks are performed under the supervision of our cardiologists.
